About Nurturing Little Souls
When I became a parent, I wanted to nurture all aspects of my children – mind, body and soul. I knew that, in order for my boys to thrive, I needed to parent every part of them. Through my training and experience as a primary school teacher, I felt I had a good understanding of the cognitive and physcial development of children but I didn’t know much about spiritual development.
So I set out to discover more about how to parent my children’s spirits and I quickly made some important realisations. I realised that the purpose of parenting is to honour & empower our children so that they can be the people they came here to be. It is also to allow our children to raise us.
I call myself a “spiritual parent” because I begin with Spirit. My parenting is led by my own soul and that of my children. Our spirituality is not separate from everyday life, it is an aspect of everything we do and, in this way, my approach to parenting is very “practical”.
In my blog posts, I share how the ordinary moments we have with our children can be used to encourage and support their well-being. They are a blend of anecdotes, wisdom and practical ideas…as well as questions I still have.
I follow no single spiritual tradition – I write from my heart, drawing on my experience and intuition. The words I choose and my point-of-view may differ a little from yours but, if my writing prompts you to reflect on your own parenting and gives you practical ways to nurture your children’s spirits, I will have done what I set out to do.
Much love to you and your little souls,
