My two boys, my little souls, are Jake (7) and Thomas (4). When I became a mum, I knew that, in order for my children to thrive, I needed to parent every part of them – mind, body & soul. Through my training and experience as a primary school teacher, I felt I had a good understanding of the cognitive and physical development of children but I didn’t know much about spiritual development.
So, I have spent a number of years exploring how to support my children’s spiritual wellness, how to pass on Love-based values and what it really means to love them unconditionally. Guided by my intuition and a readiness to learn from my “mistakes”, it has become clearer to me what I need to do as a parent to really help my children be confident, capable and caring. I have also realised that, as I raise them, my boys are raising me!
Now that I am further along on my soulful parenting journey, I am keen to support other parents who are travelling along a similar path. Currently, I do this through the personal essays on my blog and my weekly soulful parenting tips. One of my goals for 2018 is to get out from behind my keyboard to connect with parents in-person too. I want to use the perspective I’ve gained as a mother and the skills I developed as a teacher to support parents through challenges in a way that empowers them and their children.
